What CAQH ProView Is Used For

Most commercial payers pull credentialing data from CAQH rather than collecting it separately. If the profile is incomplete, out of date, or not re-attested on schedule, payer applications stall even when nothing is wrong with the provider's qualifications.

  • Profile completed with current documents and verified detail
  • Re-attestation performed on schedule so the profile stays active
  • Payer authorisations granted so plans can access the record
  • Expiring documents replaced before they lapse

CAQH Enrollment and ProView Explained

CAQH ProView is a shared credentialing data repository used by the majority of commercial health insurance payers to access provider information during enrollment and re-credentialing. Instead of submitting a separate application to each payer, providers maintain one complete CAQH profile that participating payers can query directly. An accurate, current CAQH profile is now a prerequisite for commercial payer credentialing alongside Medicare credentialing and Medicaid credentialing in most markets.

Medsure RCS handles CAQH ProView account setup, initial profile completion, document upload, and ongoing attestation management. We ensure every client's CAQH profile is complete, current, and properly authorized for the payers that reference it, so commercial credentialing applications move through the process without data gaps or authorization delays. An accurate CAQH profile simplifies re-credentialing renewals and prevents enrollment lapses that interrupt medical billing operations.

How It Works: Step by Step

1
CAQH Account Registration

We register the provider for a CAQH ProView account with the correct NPI, specialty, and practice location information.

2
Profile Completion

All profile sections are completed: personal information, education, training, work history, malpractice history, licensure, and references.

3
Document Upload

Required documents are uploaded to the CAQH document library: medical license, DEA certificate, malpractice face sheet, board certifications, and others as required.

4
Payer Authorization and Attestation

The provider authorizes relevant payers to access the profile, and the quarterly attestation cycle is configured with reminders to prevent profile expiration.

Why This Matters for Your Revenue Cycle

120 Days
Attestation Cycle

CAQH profiles must be attested every 120 days; we track and manage this cycle for every provider.

1 Profile
Feeds Multiple Payers

A complete CAQH profile supports commercial credentialing with all participating payers from a single data set.

100%
Profile Completeness Verification

We review every profile section for completeness before marking it ready for payer access.

Document
Library Maintenance

Uploaded documents are monitored for expiration and updated before they cause profile status issues.

Common Mistakes in CAQH Enrollment and ProView

Incomplete CAQH Profile Sections

Payers that access CAQH and find incomplete sections (missing work history gaps, incomplete malpractice information, or unanswered questions) issue development requests that delay credentialing. Every section must be complete before the profile is submitted for payer access.

Expired CAQH Attestation

CAQH requires re-attestation every 120 days. If a provider fails to attest, the profile is marked as expired and payers cannot access it. Expired profiles halt new credentialing applications and can interrupt existing enrollments that depend on current CAQH data.

Outdated Documents in the CAQH Library

Uploaded documents have expiration dates. Malpractice certificates and state licenses expire and must be updated in CAQH when renewed. Payers accessing outdated documents may deny or delay credentialing applications.

Not Authorizing All Relevant Payers

CAQH requires providers to specifically authorize each payer to access the profile. Payers that are not authorized cannot view the data and cannot use CAQH to support their credentialing review. Authorization must be updated when new payer enrollments begin.

How Medsure RCS Manages CAQH Enrollment and ProView

CAQH ProView Account Setup

We register new providers for CAQH ProView accounts and complete all initial profile sections with accurate, consistent information matched to NPI registry and other credential sources.

Document Library Management

Required documents are uploaded to the CAQH document library and monitored for expiration so the profile always contains current documents payers can access.

Payer Authorization Management

We configure payer authorizations on the CAQH profile for all relevant commercial payers and update authorizations when new credentialing applications begin.

Quarterly Attestation Management

The 120-day attestation cycle is tracked for every provider with advance reminders so profiles are attested on time and never expire during active credentialing reviews.

CAQH Enrollment and ProView, Frequently Asked Questions

CAQH is used by most major commercial payers including UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, and Humana. Medicare and Medicaid use their own separate enrollment systems (PECOS and state Medicaid portals) and do not reference CAQH. For commercial payer credentialing, CAQH is effectively required.

A complete initial profile setup typically takes one to two business days with all required documents available. Incomplete provider information or missing documents (board certificates, malpractice history records) can extend the process.

If a profile expires during a payer's credentialing review, the payer cannot access updated information and the application may stall or be denied. We prevent this by managing attestation cycles proactively and never allowing profiles to expire.

Yes. CAQH has expanded beyond insurance credentialing to include CVO (credential verification organization) services for hospital medical staff credentialing. The CAQH Universal Credentialing DataSource supports hospital privileging applications as well as payer enrollment.
