95951 in Detail
CPT 95951 no longer exists. It was deleted effective 1 January 2020, together with 95950, 95953 and 95956, when the long-term EEG monitoring family was restructured. Payers will not accept it for any service on or after that date.
Long-term EEG monitoring of two hours or more is now reported with codes 95700 through 95726, split between technical and professional components and selected by duration and whether video was included. Practices still carrying the old code in a charge master or order set will see rejections until it is mapped across. The current set is listed in the CPT code library, routine EEG is 95819, and neurology billing is where the code set is kept current.
